A combination of environmental degradation and poor agricultural practices also means low quality inputs or low yields, leading to greater reliance on opium and coca as a means of ensuring survival.

    who says i justify it?

  2. Beth says:

    use sparingly.

  3. Noone i says:

The only part of that I can answer is that dope smokers aka, illegal drug users, can justify ANYTHING. I mean, I used to smoke a lot of pot and everyone I hung around with hated cops, had a “screw the world attitude”, felt like they were a victim, got paranoid when they smoked, and trusted noone. Potsmokers are just as whacked out as cokeheads, crackheads or speed freaks. They just dont THINK they are.

you cant and you are paying for it now and worse in the future

  5. cloudsRus says:

well living green means living while not affecting the environment negatively with pollution etc. Smoking pot is just bad for you physically and mentally. Meat is not bad, in moderation – but neither of these has anything to do with green living… It’s not what we do that affects us, but what we do that affects others environmentally, that is living green, basically.

  6. Ryan H says:

not many of us justify it but most people are not living green. you are supposed to use and eat these things in moderation

Smoking dope isn’t bad for the environment; it burns pretty cleanly. I haven’t heard of coffee being bad for the environment either but feel free to tell me why it is. I don’t eat meat and the environment is a very good reason not to.

  8. bfwh218 says:

I don’t have to justify it, as I don’t smoke dope, drink coffee OR eat meat. My choices are more morally inspired than anything else though….

Smoking pot, if you were to grow it yourself, would not be bad for the environment. The real environmental problem would involve the need to ship it long distances. Also, when people are high, they’re happy doing nothing which is better for the environment than doing alot of things. Granted, life is ABOUT doing things, so everything in moderation. Of course there is the whole “moral” issue with drugs, but I’ll leave that alone. I don’t smoke, so it’s not really an issue for me.

Drinking coffee is also affected by the way it’s grown and by whom. If you stick to organic and free trade, it’s no worse than anything else one might do. I’m not a fan of coffee, it doesn’t agree with me.

Eating meat is awful for the environment, but again it depends on what your source is. If it’s factory farmed…good night, it’s terrible for the environment. If it’s sustainably hunted, or humanely and organically raised, then it’s better. The problem with meat is that it’s hard to stop when it’s what you’re used to. It’s also hard when you live in an area where there aren’t alot of easy alternatives. It’s very easy to go veg in the big city, but not so much in a smaller town. I’m personally doing what I can in this area. Tonight, I gave the Burger King Vegi burger a try. Not terrible.

How is smoking dope bad for the environment? Driving a car is bad for the environment… smoking dope… doesn’t even compare.
Same with coffee. The only thing environmentally damaging about coffee is the transporting/ shipping aspect of it.
I think you’re confusing “bad for the environment” with ‘bad for your body’… maybe? Even so, smoking dope and drinking caffeine/ coffee in moderation isn’t that bad for your body.
Consuming a factory raised animal is really bad for the environment. It takes much more energy to raise and farm animals than it does to farm plants. But again, everything in moderation.

I justify some (but most certainly not all) these activities as acts of self preservation.

We are human, and all humans are prone to absorb the “wrong valence” of certain elements, one of these is Iron as found in certain foods, notably beans. Certain studies have found that people that exclusively get their iron from foods like beans on average have lower IQs and this is likely from iron anemia. This is real science people, not fantasy, though it is somewhat disputed, what is not disputed by nutritionists is that beef is an excellent source of heme iron, and that keeps a body going.

Another mineral element of the wrong valence that can cause bad things to happen is chromium (hexavalent chrome). There was a movie about that one Erin Brockovich, perhaps you’ve heard of it?

I worry more than most about this due to abnormal red blood cells. Though I’m over 45 I was once told I might not get older than 27, or even 14.

Love beef. If it’s only a placebo, it’s a cool one.

As to coffee, well I used to work night shifts. I put in over a decade. And the coffee flowed and the work got done. Sometimes we even ‘did better’ on 2nd shift than did 1rst shift. Third shift was raw. Then we switched to 12 hour shifts. Try and stay awake and focused on 12 hour night shifts, without chemistry, after the 13th day straight.

Then of course is the addiction. (caffeine). I truly adore a latte’.

How does this affect the environment? Well, in my job we had one mill doing the work that was done by several mills in earlier times. Because of our productivity we were able to do research and that led to better use of triss, a pollutant, but valuable fire retardant. (Ever get really burned? I have and it’s not fun). With our technology, we made better stuff, that didn’t burn and lasts almost onto forever compared to the old stuff with less people and less use of natural resources. None of this would have been possible as a bankrupt corporation. So I justify others as the end justifies the means.

Pot however never was part of my equation. Nor was cocaine or heroin.

Yes, I was addicted to heroin. It seems the Reagan Administration was a bunch of thugs. They seem to have given a blanket pardon to “drug dealers” who kill “Liberal Americans”, “in order to serve the financial needs of the Contras, a CIA asset”. Ron hated the CIA, as has every other
President since, so he blamed them for the work of the NSA. People like me, who were associated with the CIA were targets. We were killed. I was no exception, except that I woke up in the morgue after that “conservative judge” “accidentally” ran me over with his borrowed black Chrysler New Yorker with it’s covered stylish wheel covers, nearly removing my legs. Reagan wasn’t too concerned if a liberal actually bought dope, he was more concerned if the liberal could be said to have bought dope. Yup the type of heroin I was found of was morphine, post “drunk driving accident”.

The worst thing a responsible person can do is place nuclear options in front of a group, and then vote in psychopaths who swear they will systimatically kill them. This is what happened with the conservative “movement”. It is what is happening with that movement. I am guilty of part of that; the rest of the USA the rest. I placed nukes in the hands of fellow liberals. The nation determined to loose control to a nut case. He did what he said he would. We are now vertually defenseless against those moles “about” but not in the liberal camp who like me can make functional nukes from seawater, or better yet “depleated uranium”.
